Background

The District of Oak Bay is upgrading outdated playgrounds in our parks. Between 2024-2025 the playgrounds at Windsor Park and Henderson-Kiwanis Park were renewed.

This summer we are replacing the playground in Quimper Park, located on Quimper Street near Harling Point. Through an request for proposals, the  District selected Swing Time Parks and Playgrounds as the successful bid and the contract was awarded at the July 28, 2025 Council Meeting.

A public engagement process conducted last year identified a clear community preference for one of the proposed playground designs, along with suggested enhancements, including additional swings. In response, the preferred design was updated to include more swings. The revised design can be viewed on the right side of the page.

Where we are today

The Quimper Park playground will close on Monday, March 30, 2026 to allow for the removal of existing equipment and installation of the new playground. Construction is weather dependent and expected to take approximately 4-5 weeks. The new playground will be ready for families in advance of the busy summer season.
