#Archive30 April 2024

15 April 2024

Day 1 #YourArchive: looks different these days following 2021 renovations @ Municipal Hall, though we haven't moved. Floor plan, sq footage, traffic flow & storage locations have changed - we even have a new wall & a new window! Photo tour here: https://buff.ly/43PsKAV

Day 2 #WhereYouStarted: the archives' public space has changed a lot - while staying in the same spot - since I arrived @DistrictOakBay in May 2020. Here's a reminder of the archives' search room and office layout in the before times: https://buff.ly/3VLyHwQ

Day 3 #ColourfulArchives: most of our photos are black and white, but here are some eye-catching covers from the Oak Bay section of our reference library. The contents are also pretty colourful! Did you know the catalogue is online? https://buff.ly/3TPS2dE

Day 4 #SomethingNew: The Archives blog now has an index: browse posts by subject categories

Day 5 #TypicalDay: volunteers here in the morning, indexing building permits & demo files; drop-in enquiry hours 10-1; I am processing & uploading digital images & writing a volunteers' email bulletin; another volunteer scanning photos in pm; to-do list is longer at 4pm than it was at 9am. #TypicalTuesday

Day 6 #MiniMilestones: A volunteer and I are encouraging ourselves by charting our progress leapfrogging through long steps of a big photo processing project - see the results so far at https://buff.ly/3QeBivZ
